Green Lifestyle Local Tour Incentive Scheme (Phase Two)
Application Period: 21 April 2022 to 31 May 2023
Phase Two of the Green Lifestyle Local Tour Incentive Scheme ("Scheme") is funded by the Anti-epidemic Fund of the HKSAR Government. The Scheme aims to encourage the public to enjoy nature, promote nature conservation and biodiversity, and raise public awareness of the HKSAR Government’s efforts in promoting green lifestyle and tourism, waste and carbon reduction, environmental protection and nature conservation, etc.; promote local economic activities; and support the tourism and related industries.
Considering that the tourism industry is constantly affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, the Government enhanced the second phase of Green Lifestyle Local Tour Incentive Scheme (the “Scheme”) to further support the travel trade to cope with the continued difficult business environment and encourage the trade to get prepared for the return of visitors.
The enhanced Scheme, effective from 1 December 2022, is implemented with details as follows:
(1) to provide each licensed travel agent with a fresh quota of 1 000 green lifestyle local tour participants;
(2) to increase the subsidy level for receiving each eligible local tour participant from HK$200 to HK$300; and
(3) to expand the scope of eligible green lifestyle local tour participants to include non-Hong Kong residents.
Eligible green lifestyle local tours departing from 1 December 2022 onwards apply the new quota of 1 000 green lifestyle local tour participants and are eligible to an incentive of HK$300 for each participant. The quota of licensed travel agents that remains unused by 30 November 2022 will automatically lapse on 1 December 2022.
In addition, the Government has announced the adjustment of the local anti-epidemic measures, effective from 29 December 2022, licensed travel agents are not required to submit the application for “Conditional exemption for licensed travel agents to organise group tours" to Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TIC) for organising local tours.
Starting from 1 January 2023, eligible green lifestyle local tours must complete the pre-registration of the tour itinerary through an E-registration form prior to tour departure, and its application for the Scheme must be submitted online no later than 31 May 2023.
