Talk on Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark
To complement the enhancement of the Green Lifestyle Local Tour Incentive Scheme by the Government, the TIC organised an online talk “Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark” on 20 July. Around 70 participants from travel agents, tourist guides and tour escorts joined the online talk.
As one of the designated green spots under the Incentive Scheme, Ms Winnie Wong, Ranger I (Geopark) of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, introduced the establishment and purposes of the Hong Kong Geopark, its geological and cultural features and visiting information of various geosites, all of which are to help travel agents attain a preliminary understanding of the Hong Kong Geopark before planning a tour, and to enhance the knowledge and skills of tourist guides and tour escorts required to lead a geo tour.
Mrs Alice Chan, Executive Director of the TIC, explained the circular C1892 which was issued earlier regarding the “Notes on organisation of local tours” and its attachment of“Reference for protecting the health of local tourists”. She also reminded members to comply with relevant guidelines and codes when arranging the relevant activities.
