The Cultural Heritage Sites Local Tours Incentive Scheme (the Scheme) has been implemented since October 2022 and well-received by the travel industry. Licensed travel agents continue to develop distinctive local tours for both visitors and locals. In particular, tourist experience activities in respect of the Advanced local tours offer travelers opportunities to experience the uniqueness of local culture, heritage, conservation as well as revitalization in the city. In addition, these activities as the highlights of the Scheme set the direction for its future development.

To enhance the next phase of the Scheme, the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong ("TIC") will provide additional resources for a review study of the tourist experience activities. Trained observers will attend the activities of randomly-selected Advanced local tours to collect information in various aspects, including the venue, duration, quality of tutor, and adherence to objective of promoting cultural heritage. We expect the collected data will provide valuable insights into the future planning and refinement of the Scheme.

TIC will contact Travel Agents for the arrangement of the visits. The concerned travel agents have to provide dates and time of the tourist experience activities to ensure the completion of visits prior to applications for the incentives of the Scheme.
