Organised by the Exhibition Group Limited, and co-organised by the TIC and Shenzhen Travel Association, the “Hong Kong Holiday & Travel Expo 2024 Autumn” (event) was successfully conducted between 27 and 29 September 2024, which welcomed more than 200,000 visitors, greatly exceeding the expectation by 25%. The number of average daily visitors also broke the record of the first ever four-day “Hong Kong Holiday and Travel Expo 2024” held in February this year.

The event is the first consumer-oriented travel carnival in Hong Kong, receiving overwhelming positive response of attendees and many exhibitors obtain the robust businesses. It demonstrates the public’s strong appetite for travel products. According to the press release of the organiser, “in addition to the enticing promotions presented by exhibitors, the growing demand for themed travel among the public led the organisers to host over 20 travel sharing sessions during the expo. Topics included wellness travel centered around tea culture, explorations of the Greater Bay Area, unique cruises experiences, and journeys to mysterious destinations.”

In view of the situation that bogus accounts/pages and fraudulent advertisements have become increasingly rampant on social media platform Facebook in recent years and have adversely affected a large number of travel agents and consumers, the TIC, specially through the booth themed “Beware of Online Scams”, assist the Hong Kong Police Force in promoting the one-stop scam and pitfall search engine “Scameter” aiming to enhance public awareness of fraud prevention, combat digital fraud, and avoid falling into an online trap. At the opening ceremony, Mr Ricky TSE, Deputy Chairman of the TIC, mentioned “Smart consumers who purchase travel products will carefully make inquiries and purchases from participating licensed travel agents during the event to avoid falling into these traps and suffering any losses.”

The TIC will actively work on the event scheduled on February 2025 with the organiser so as to benefit more travel agents exhibitors and hope to bring more surprises to the public.
