【Hong Kong Travel Trade Delegation: Cities for Individual Visit Scheme - Taiyuan City (Shanxi Province)】opens for registration

2025-04-02

Taiyuan City, the capital of Shanxi Province, serves as one of the significant cradles of Chinese civilisation, boasting numerous splendid world cultural heritage sites, as well as a wealth of ancient architecture, intangible cultural heritage, and natural landscapes. Since last year, the Country has further optimised the “Individual Visa Scheme” (IVS), now including Taiyuan City (Shanxi Province), holding great significance for boosting Hong Kong’s tourism industry and overall economic development, while also fostering closer ties between the residents of the Mainland and Hong Kong.

With the funding and support from the Tourism Commission of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the HKSAR Government, the TIC will organise three travel trade delegations in 2025. After the first delegation to Harbin City (Heilongjiang Province) in February, the second delegation will visit Taiyuan City (Shanxi Province). Throughout the itinerary, participants will be arranged to visit cultural and intangible heritage tourism attractions to further facilitate a better understanding of the latest development, as well as to exchange with the representatives of Government cultural tourism department(s) and trade partners. The TIC strives to assist the trade to “Tap Into” and “Go Global”, aiming to expand larger market opportunities. The Delegation will be accompanied by representatives from Government official(s), Legislative Council member(s) and main trade organisation(s), media(s) etc.

  • Throughout the journey, the tourist guide will interpret Taiyuan culture and tourism resources in Cantonese only.
  • Taiyuan City of the Shanxi Province is relatively hot in summer with noticeable temperature differences between day and night. The highest temperature can reach 30°C, while the lowest can drop to 17°C. Thank you for your attention.
  • Due to the vast area of Shanxi, which has many outdoor attractions, touring may require a certain amount of physical strength.

Within one week after the deadline for application, the TIC will confirm by email that the applicant has successfully obtained the quota for the Delegation. After receiving the confirmation email, the applicant must submit required information and make full payment by the specific date mentioned in the email in order for the application to be successful. Overdue payment will mean that the applicant waives the participation quota automatically. The TIC will provide successful applicants with the details of the Delegation in late May.

We look forward to your participation!
