The fifth wave of COVID-19 has become increasingly severe since January 2022. The Government adopted the tightening of social distancing measures and these measures were extended until 20 April 2022.  This has led to cancellations of workshops and seminars for the Continuing Professional Development Scheme for Tourist Guides (CPD Scheme), making some tourist guides fail to meet all the requirements of the CPD Scheme in time and unable to renew their Tourist Guide Passes (TGPs).  The TIC has decided to extend the two-year period for renewal of the TGP in order to assist those affected tourist guides. Details are as follows:

1. To extend those two-year periods for renewal of TGPs which have expired or are due to expire during the period from 1 January to 31 May 2022 so that the periods concerned will not expire until 30 June 2022;
    
2. The counting of the validity period of the TGPs concerned remains the same, i.e., the new Pass will be valid for three years, counting from the day following the day on which the old Pass expires.
