Baba-Nyonya, also known as Peranakan is a unique community and they were usually born in Penang and Melaka. Arriving from China centuries ago, the new immigrants assimilated the Malay culture. The Baba-Nyonya in Penang mainly communicates in Hokkien (one of the Chinese dialects) spiced with Malay words while the Baba-Nyonya in Melaka speaks mainly in Malay. Do visit Penang and Melaka to try out their iconic dishes and traditional attire, admire the delicate architecture and stay in the Baba-Nyonya heritage house!

Seven Terraces, Penang is formed by seven local Chinese houses and is the winner of the 2007 UNESCO Award of Distinction for heritage conservation. Maintaining the pristine tiles and decorations and preserving the traditional Peranakan’s house design, Seven Terraces brings you back to the days of opulence in a Peranakan Chinese household!

Encore Melaka

Impression Series at Encore Melaka is an immersive visual and auditory experience, presented in a 360-degree rotating auditorium with multiple-stage. The Multicultural Melaka is expressed through the blend of traditional and contemporary dance performed by 160 local performers! In an approximately 70-min show, we will go through the six centuries of history literally crossing through time and experience the multicultural and multi-ethnic Melaka.
