With effect from 1 July 2004, all tourist guides assigned by member agents to receive visitors to Hong Kong must have a valid Tourist Guide Pass issued by the TIC. To implement the above regulation, the TIC has been providing in stages various means for working and intending tourist guides to obtain the Pass.

Starting from March 2004, those who have the certificate of the Tour Coordinator Certificate Course and at least one year’s experience in tour-guiding are eligible to take a “Knowledge on Hong Kong” examination to be organised by the TIC. If they pass the examination and meet other requirements, they are eligible to apply for the Tourist Guide Pass. Details of the examination and the application form can be downloaded from  here.
