Emirates Airline’s commission cut triggers boycott
In view of Emirates Airline’s imminent cut of agency commission from 7% to 5% starting from 1 July, the eight Association Members of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TIC) held an emergency meeting today (27 June) and decided to urge their respective member agents to stop providing services for their customers in relation to enquiry and booking services concerning Emirates for seven days from 1 to 7 July.
Besides, the eight Association Members also requested the TIC to convene an extraordinary general meeting as soon as possible in order to discuss further action to be taken. Meanwhile, travel agents will continue discussion with Emirates through the TIC in the hope that a win-win-win solution can be found.
The eight Association Members wanted to apologise for any inconvenience consumers may suffer as a result.
