The TIC held a Members’ Lunch Gathering on travel insurance on 15 July 2011. At the gathering, a member suggested that insurance companies should extend the cover for “journey interruptions”. The TIC has written to the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers to request it to study the matter with the insurance trade.

In addition, another member asked whether travel agents which redeemed, for a service fee, air miles for air tickets for customers would be allowed to sell travel insurance related to such journeys to the customers.
