First-ever Cruise Holiday Expo sets sail for growth of local cruise travel
2013-09-05
The Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TIC) today announced its staging of the first-ever Cruise Holiday Expo (the Expo) at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, which will run from 20 to 22 September 2013 (Friday to Sunday) over the long weekend right after the Mid-Autumn Festival. The three-day event will be open to industry members on its first day and welcome the public on 21-22 September.
Organized by the TIC, co-organized by the Tourism Commission and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, and with support from the TIC’s eight association members, the Expo will feature 17 leading international cruise brands and around 30 local travel agents for visitors to select a wide array of cruise packages from world-class cruise lines. Participating exhibitors will also offer special deals that are exclusive to Expo visitors to satisfy the high demand of cruise lovers.
In addition, seminars will be held on-site to share the latest trends and popular cruise itineraries with both trade and public visitors. A lucky draw will be held on 22 September (the last day of the Expo) with a range of amazing prizes, including cruise tours, to be given out as an added attraction for the event.
“With the overwhelming interest from both international cruise brands and leading local travel agencies in the Expo, we are excited at the growing potential of Hong Kong cruise tourism,” said Michael Wu, Chairman of the TIC.
Shuttle buses to the Expo venue will be provided at East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station (Exit K) and the apm mall (Kwun Tong MTR Station – Exit A2) during the show period.
The event is open to trade visitors on 20 September, and to public visitors on 21-22 September. Tickets for the public days, $10 each, are available on sale at outlets of participating travel agency exhibitors from 6 September.
