To ensure that freelance tour escorts performing tour escort duties outside Hong Kong are better covered, the TIC decided to establish a “Work Insurance Scheme for Freelance Tour Escorts”. A directive has been issued to stipulate that effective from 1 January 2020, travel agents shall ensure that freelance tour escorts assigned by them are covered by work insurance for freelance tour escorts during the entire duration when performing tour escort duties, and travel agents shall provide the freelance tour escorts a premium subsidy.
