“Consultation Session for the Specification of Competency Standards for Travel Industry” was successfully conducted
In order to publicise and promote the qualifications framework among the travel trade, the Qualifications Framework Secretariat (QF Secretariat) specially organised for the TIC a“Consultation Session for the Specification of Competency Standards for Travel Industry” on 23 August 2021 (Monday) and has invited representatives from the Travel Industry Training Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee), Specification of Competency Standards Drafting Subcommittee, School of Continuing and Professional Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong as speakers to introduce the qualifications framework and related application tool(s), the draft specification of competency standards and the vocational qualifications pathway for travel industry, as well as interact with the participants in the Q&A Session. The Consultation Session attracted more than 70 participants, including representatives from the Tourism Commission and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, members of the TIC’s various committees, TIC course instructors and consultants.
The formulation of the qualifications framework for the travel industry is closely related to the trade. Under the framework, the Advisory Committee will establish a set of industry standards to enhance the professionalism of travel trade practitioners with an aim to promoting the sustainable development of the sector. The Advisory Committee has completed drafting the specification of competency standards for the travel industry, which is now ready for industry consultation until 14 October 2021 in order to collect stakeholders’ views.
