The Government announced on 20 October 2022 the launch of a three-year Cultural and Heritage Sites Local Tour Incentive Scheme (“Scheme”) to incentivise the travel trade to develop more tourism products and itineraries with cultural and heritage elements, echoing the guiding directions of the Culture and Tourism Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (“TIC”) is the implementation agent of the Scheme. The Scheme seeks to attract tourists and the public to visit places in Hong Kong with cultural and heritage tourism elements and encourage the travel trade to develop attractive itineraries and products, so as to enable tourists and the public to understand more about local culture and heritage, conservation, revitalisation, etc. and promote tourism products with characteristics and diversity.

Under the first phase of the Scheme, eligible travel agents can receive cash incentives in respect of each cultural and heritage sites local tour participant they serve during the period between 20 October 2022 and 31 October 2023. Please click here for the details of the Scheme.
