To alleviate the shortage of tourist guides (foreign languages) in meeting demand, the Travel Industry Authority (TIA) has launched a special scheme under which licensed travel agents may nominate qualified individuals to apply for a "Special Tourist Guide Licence (Designated Foreign Language)".  The special licence allows the holders to work as a tourist guide under specified time and conditions.
