Use of Luk Keng Road by coaches with 29 seats or less

2025-03-25

The following message is from Tourism Commission regarding the access of tour coaches to Luk Keng Road:

Luk Keng Road is narrow and contains many turns.  For the sake of traffic safety, the road is currently designated as a prohibited zone for vehicles with gross weight over 5.5 tonnes, public light buses (except for scheduled service), buses and coaches.

Considering the traffic needs in association with the local tourism, the Transport Department will issue Prohibited Zone Permits and allow coaches with 29 seats or less to travel along Luk Keng Road during non-peak periods having regard to the traffic conditions.

The relevant Prohibited Zone Permit can be applied through Transport Department’s website at:
https://www.td.gov.hk/en/public_services/licences_and_permits/crrzpzbp/index.html

Some sections of Luk Keng Road are single track roads.  Coach drivers should pay attention to the oncoming vehicles and pedestrians, and always exercise tolerance when driving along Luk Keng Road.
